Offutt AFB FamCamp

Offutt AFB FamCamp, known locally as “base Lake”, is the first military campground we have been to for over 30 years, boy things sure have changed. They can handle “Big Rigs”, with pull-thru sites, full hookups (that’s electric, water and sewer) and 50 amp electrical service. A few years ago if you could get 30 amps, it was great.

The campground is sprinkled through out with picnic areas with covered tables and playgrounds for the kids.

There is a large enclosed pavilion that was used several times during our stay for large groups.

It’s early morning and someone is already started getting ready for a large picnic. With the temperature going above 100 each afternoon, more people were getting it done early and out of the heat by afternoon.

The registration building housed not only the registration desk, but a snack bar, laundry, showers, local WIFI and a nice deck overlooking the lake.

The lake was down quite a bit, but you could still rent boats and fish. A license was required, but could be obtained in the registration building.

Lots of recreation stuff to do, like Volley ball

and of course there had to be a series of horse shoe pits.

The layout was very nice, with three rows of pull-thrus and back-ins around the perimeter.

If you went past the camping area, there was another picnic area on a peninsula that had several more covered picnic areas. Here is a shot of the registration building from across the way.

The sun was going down, giving everything an orange tint.

The sun set last night was more spectacular but I didn’t have my camera (ya I know, stupid), but still this one was pretty good, Peg really liked how the light reflected off the water.

I liked the reflections created in the water.
