April 2012

On the 1st of April we arrived in South Carolina and headed to Charleston Air Force Base in North Charleston.  They have redone the whole park and it is really great.  Full hookups now, beautiful laundry room and bathrooms, great neighbors and terrific hosts.  Our main reason to be back is to visit our daughter Susan and her family.  Three grandchildren here makes our stay enjoyable like California.

On April 3rd we took the car to Baker Cadillac and rented a car from Enterprise.  They called the next day and told Tim they estimated a $10,000 bill and really were not sure what the cause definitly was.  The truck has 158,000 miles so why put that much money into it when the truck is worth only $13,000.  We were riding in North Carleston and pulled into the Chevy Dealer.  The next thing we knew we were both in love with a new 2012 Chevy Truck with all the bells and whistles.  We are now the proud owners of a new truck.

Easter Sunday we attended and Easter Service at Boone Hall Plantation.  It was put on by St Andrew’s Church and was just beautiful.  We attended with family and everyone looked so beautful.  We went over to Diane and Chuck’s home for dinner and what a wonderful spread.  All in all a wonderful dinner, great conversation and wonderful people.

While in Charleston we had our two youngest granddaughters over for a sleepover.  What fun that was. We played at the playground, had our nails done, went to the ice cream shop and headed to WalMart for a new toy.  They were excellent and we so enjoyed having them.

We both went to our doctor while here also and got good news – healthy and given new prescriptions for our medications.

We attended Julia’s (our 7 yr old granddaughter) soccer game two weekends.  She is an excellent player and so enjoys the sport.

One Sunday Bob and Peggy came to Charleston so we picked them up and gave them alittle tour of the city.  We took a nice carriage ride from the Old South Carriage Company.  We had a wonderful lunch and enjoyed walking around until the rain started.  Not much fun walking around in pouring rain so we left and just rode around.

One beautiful Sunday we went with family out on our boat.  We went to an  island and walked around, swam and just relaxed.  Wonderful day.

We also got to see Lucille and Vinny while here, we went to Jim and Nicks for dinner and enjoyed our food and company.

We found a wonderful pizza restaurant called Extra Virgin Oven in North Charleston – what a great place – the owner comes around and talks to everyone.

On the 30th we had our Birthday Dinner with the Shallo’s and also a farewell one.  Susan will be 40 on the 4th, Emily 13 on the 18th and Julia will be 8 on the 25th.  We had a wonderful time and great food.

That brought another month to an end – we saw wonderful friends, family, met alot of new people and really enjoyed our time in Charleston.  Next month will be a busy one for us – stay tuned.
